The programma is being financed by Technology Foundation STW which is part of the Dutch Research council NWO. The programme started in January 2008. With its programme budget of 7 M€ the TFN is among the largest research communities in the world working on this theme.

Projects for utilisation

The projects do not only cover technological challenges but have a very large focus on the utilisation of results in Dutch and foreign companies. In order to stimulate research going into the direction of the companies user committies have been established for each and every individual project. These committees meet every six months. Meetings are confidential. New concepts and insights are being patented, if possible.

Company support

For the purpose of getting the most out of the TFN projects, the names of the companies involved in the TFN programme have not been mentioned on this website unless with written consent of the company involved. These companies finance more than 25% of the project cost either in cash or by an in-kind contribution.
